Sanlúcar de Guadiana
This picturesque border
town situated on the banks of the River Guadiana is just 20 miles inland from
the Atlantic Ocean. One of Spain's pueblos blancos, steeped in 
history with it's
castle dating back to the twelfth century, the port of Sanlucar de Guadiana gained prominence in the first half of the nineteenth
century when it was used as a base to export such crops as rice, soap, lead and
wood. Now, however, the only boats to be seen are those of visiting yachtsmen
and the local fishermen who live in the village.
The surrounding areas are renowned for their now dormant mines and the Rio
Tinto mines are reputed to be the oldest mines in the world. According to
myth, these are the fabled mines of King Solomon.
The village has two general stores, a bakers, post office and four
bar/restaurants and with an average meal out costing around 6 euros per person,
you are sure to be delighted with this taste of old Spain.
With Portugal's Alcoutim just a minute's ferry ride across the river, you are
able to enjoy two cultures in two different time zones. New Year's Eve can be
celebrated twice in this unique location!
Car hire is recommended to get the most out of this area.

Stunning
terrace views down river and across to Portugal's Alcoutim from this superbly
equipped 3 double bed roomed house.
This traditional, restored house comprises 2 doubles, 1 twin with private wc,
separate bathroom, further wc with 
washing machine, fully furnished
kitchen with fridge and freezer, large sitting room with wood burner,
separate dining room, covered outdoor dining area and terrace with built in
bar-b-q. The house is
fully equipped and furnished to a high standard for 6 people. British digital
television is installed.
Being a privately owned family house, this is tastefully furnished and
non-smoking.
The picturesque village of
Sanlúcar with it's artisano bars and restaurants has a mini market, a general
store and a post office. There is a passenger ferry service for trips across
into Portugal and a variety of activities on offer locally including a man made
beach and swimming area.

Casa Palmira
Traditional village house with twin terraces, the roof terrace affording views
over the River Guadiana and across to Portugal. Situated in the heart of the
village.
Accommodation comprises bedroom with double bed and single, lower sitting room
with single bed, mezzanine with twin beds, further sitting room, kitchen and
bathroom. Ideally suit family.

Puerto Carbon
Just 10 minutes down river from Sanlucar de Guadiana
is the hamlet of Puerto Carvon.
On the banks of the River Guadiana, the peace and tranquillity of this rustic
area is sure to give you a real feel for campo living at its best. Car hire is
recommended.
Los Olivos
You
could stay in a self-catering wood cabin on the banks of the river. With one
twin bedroom and a comfortable double sofa bed in the sitting room, kitchenette
and bathroom, this will
accommodate from 2 to 4 people.

Villablanca
Just 5 miles inland from
the coast itself and arguably the best beaches on the Costa de la Luz, is the
old town of Villablanca. With bars, restaurants, bakers, grocery stores and
shops, there is everything you need right within walking distance of your villa.
Villa Levoi
Built in 2003, this privately owned 4 double bed roomed detached villa with
swimming pool is available for Villablanca's International Dance Festival which
occurs during the last week of August. Visiting dance troops from all over the
world feature in one of the most talked about fiesta week's in Andalucia.
